NEW ENGLAND TECHNOLOGY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS TO TWENTY CHILDREN'S CHARITIES
Latest grants total $100,000; Total NETF awards at $1.3 million
Boston, MA - May 22, 2006 - The New England Technology Foundation (NEFT) today announced its latest round of award grants to deserving children's charities throughout New England. Twenty charities received grants totaling $100,000. The NETF focuses exclusively on social, medical, and educational children's organizations in New England. This latest round of grants brings the total awarded by the NEFT since its inception to $1.3 million. A complete list of grant winners is available at www.netechfoundation.org. "The NETF is extremely proud to assist these remarkable children's charities," Carolyn Macedo, president of the NETF. "Many of these charities are not large organizations, so our grants go a particularly long way in helping them better meet their missions. Over the past decade, the NETF has funded over sixty charities-all of whom are helping kids learn, heal and develop." One of the latest grant recipients is the Kids Clothes Club, a fifteen-year old program that provides winter coats for over six thousand children who are homeless or from low-income families. "The New England Technology Foundation grant is a tremendous help to us," said Faith Michaels of the Kids Clothes Club. "The money goes directly to purchasing winter coats for under-privileged kids here in cold New England. The NETF is a great provider of needed funds."
About the New England Technology Foundation
The New England Technology Foundation (NETF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1992. Its mission is to bring the region's technology community together to raise funds for social, medical, and educational organizations that benefit the children of New England. Since its inception, the NETF has donated over one million dollars to charitable organizations. The NETF is an all-volunteer organization donating to numerous recipients, many of whom have stayed afloat due the NETF contributions. The NETF hosts an annual Technology Bash and golf tournament each year. Technology companies from throughout New England are invited to support and participate in the events as corporate sponsors, through the purchase of tables or foursomes, and by contributing to the silent auction held at the gala. Funds raised from the events are then awarded to a selected group of non-profit organizations supporting the needs of children.
