Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Healey is Guest of Honor at New England High-Tech Charity Foundation's 2003 Gala

Boston, MA - September 11, 2003 - The New England Hi-Tech Charity Foundation (NEHTCF) today announced that Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey will attend its 2003 black-tie gala as the organization's Guest of Honor. This year's gala, a milestone for the organization, is NEHTCF's 10th annual black-tie fundraiser, and will be held on September 13th at the Westin Copley Place in Boston.

"I know I'm joined by the many leaders of high technology in welcoming Lieutenant Governor Healey to our event," said Heather Downs, president of NEHTCF. "Her gracious show of support for our efforts is tremendously gratifying, and will mean a great deal to both our membership and the many charities we fund."

The Lieutenant Governor is no stranger to grass roots community involvement. Lieutenant Governor Healey has a strong commitment to her community. She served on the Foundation Board of North Shore Community College, co-chaired Beverly's United Way Campaign in 2001 and has served on the Friend's Board of Beverly Hospital. A strong believer in literacy and learning, Lieutenant Governor Healey also co-chaired a campaign to rebuild her city's library, raising more than $1 million in private funds and grants.

The Flavor of Monte Carlo in Boston Held at the Westin at Copley Place in Boston, NEHTCF's annual black tie gala event is an evening that finds colleagues from all sectors of the technology community gathered to dine, dance and raise needed funds in support of New England children's charities. This year's event promises to be extraordinary. With an exciting Monte Carlo theme, the Foundation also has plans for a silent auction, casino, live entertainment and a wonderful menu; all supporting a fundamentally important cause: New England's children.

About the New England Hi-Tech Charity Foundation The New England Hi-Tech Charity Foundation (NEHTCF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1992 by a small group of individuals from New England's technology industry. Its mission is to bring the region's high technology community together to raise funds for social, medical, and educational organizations that benefit the children of New England. Since its inception, NEHTCF has donated over one million dollars to charitable organizations including Why Me, Matthew 25, Pass It On, The Children's Literacy Foundation. The Foundation is an all-volunteer organization donating to many worthy recipients, many of whom have stayed afloat due the NEHTCF contributions.

The Foundation hosts an annual black tie event and golf tournament each year. Technology companies from throughout the region are invited to support and participate in the events as corporate sponsors, through the purchase of tables or foursomes, and by contributing to the silent auction held at the gala. Funds raised from the events are then awarded to a selected group of non-profit organizations supporting the needs of children.
