Fly a Kite for Kids
POSTPONED TO SPRING 2010
A Guinness World Book of Records Attempt for the "Most Kites Flown Simultaneously"
Beating kite flying records seems to be the popular thing to do this year. Due to new a new record being recently set, we have decided to postpone our fall fundraising and kite flying record attempt event, Fly a Kite for Kids, until the spring of 2010. There have been two recent attempts at setting the same record. One event held in Gaza in July was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records last week as now holding the new record of 3710 kites flying at the same time (almost four times the previous record). There was another record attempt held in Oklahoma in early September which got about 2600 kites in the sky. We had felt comfortable beating the previous record of 967 kites but feel that we do not have enough time to ramp up the logistics and flyer recruitment activities to get four times the kites flying on the 11th of October. Therefore, we want to take some time to regroup for a larger effort and get far ahead of both records!
We want to thank all of our sponsors and supporters who have assisted us so far with this project. We will be back to you soon as we reset our efforts.
